Deadeye Dames is a 501 (c) Organization that was started in August of 2013.
Deadeye Dames seeks to empower women of all ages
with the knowledge of firearms safety
and confidence required to shoot a firearm proficiently.
Through education, we encourage women
to be knowledgeable in our Second Amendment rights,
participate in firearms ownership
and shooting sports
while networking with other women of similar interests.
Donnette Larson
President

Donnette is a Sacramento native and lives in Citrus Heights, CA.  Donnette has worked many years in retail management and is very passionate about the shooting sports.  While working at a local gun store, she realized how many women want to learn about guns but don’t want their husbands or boyfriends to teach them.   Finding other women to shoot with is what started the adventure to co-founding Deadeye Dames. She is now an NRA Instructor for Pistol,  Shotgun, Rifle, Personal Protection in the Home and Refuse to be a Victim.  She is also a Department of Justice Certified Instructor.   Teaching other ladies who have never shot, all about firearms and how to shoot is what brings her joy. Donnette shoots competitively in IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) and is at the range every chance she gets. Camping with family and friends is one of her favorite activities, along with hanging out at the pool and shopping.

Lori Welsch

Secretary

Lori has been around guns her whole life as her father and brothers were hunters. It wasn’t until maybe the last 5-6 years or so that she really got into shooting, collecting and having so much fun. She now holds a CCW and has a number of her own guns, both rifles and pistols. She is also a member of the Sac Valley Shooting Center.

Since joining the Deadeye Dames, the skills she has learned are invaluable. Lori has discovered a whole new world, met many new people and have become more aware of her surroundings and the world at large. There are a lot of things out there that can harm us, our families, neighbors and so forth. However, if we are aware of these potential dangers, we can hopefully avoid them and enjoy life to the fullest. This club has boosted her confidence in ways she didn’t think was possible. To say that Lori is a great shot is truly stretching the truth but at least she is willing to be taught, to try to improve her skills, and hopefully become the marksman she wants to be. Recently being voted in as the new secretary will allow her to be more and more involved. Lori is truly happy to be a part of this amazing woman’s shooting club, and we are thrilled to have her.

Shelbie Rue

Sergeant at Arms

Once upon a time, when Shelbie’s daughter was in Jr High School, her husband was going to “get back into” shooting and dirt bike riding to teach their only child.  Of course, she did not want to be left out.  Shelbie grew up in a family where “guns were thought to be dangerous regardless of who was holding the firearm.”  She went out and bought her first gun, a 2.5″ SW 357 revolver.  It fit her small hand and she wanted uncomplicated.  That meant something she could point and shoot. (Still her second favorite gun.)

A few years later, 2009, she did not want to be left behind again.  Her husband and a few of his buddies wanted to find a firearm training facility.  Shelbie found Frontsight.  Again, she tagged along down to Southern Nevada with a new, her very favorite in the whole world gun, a .380 Colt Mustang.  (Her husband has since retired it due to its value.)  Eventually his whole family became members of Frontsight.

Now for the happily ever after part . . . Her husband’s sister was in need of instructors and Shelbie’s husband was going to help her out.  Shelbie did not want to be left out.  .  .  You know what. . She loves teaching and assisting women to become safe, comfortable, and have the correct hardware they need to protect themselves; sometimes it’s about adding a pleasurable past time.  Shelbie thinks her background as an Occupational Therapist has provided her with a fuller approach to teaching body mechanics and the course material.

Shelbie’s life is smashed like many of yours and this has prevented her from obtaining other certifications.  She currently has NRA Pistol and is a Certified Department of Justice instructor which allows her to teach Concealed Weapon Classes.  In a few months she hope to add another.  .  Stay tuned.

We have 8 men and women who volunteer to help teach!

If you would like to volunteer, let us know!
